I know, I know… winter is basically over so these aren’t the most timely photos but I wanted to share before I completely chickened out on the post.
A good friend once told me that I belong in front of the lens just as much as behind it. It was a very unexpected thing to hear which made it all the more touching. I don’t tend to think that I should be in front of the lens. When I photograph other people I strive to look beyond imperfections, because we all have them, and simply capture images that share the moment. I don’t usually give myself that same treatment when I am the one being photographed. I would much rather be capturing the beauty in people around me than turning the camera to myself. But there is something about being in front that can be insightful. It pushes me out of my comfortable place and forces me to see myself from a different perspective.
