Steph and I had an incredible day in DC today. We learned that although the first meaning of “DC” is District of Columbia, its secondary meaning must mean “Dodge Crowds” because we did a lot of that today. The cherry trees were supposed to be in bloom at this time (they weren’t) but because of their anticipated arrival, thousands upon thousands of visitors were on Capitol Hill for the Cherry Tree Blosson Festival and the Kite Festival on the National Mall which accompanied it. The entire day was packed–full of sites and other tourists. Between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial, a lot of our experience was simply the crowd. But it was entirely worth it.
