Long haul

It’s been a really cool day. We have been in the car… a lot. But it’s been really insightful and encouraging hearing the perspectives of the Navajo leaders we met with as well as wisdom from Michael, Nick, and Ken who have worked with the Navajo in the past (Nick actually lived on the reservation). It’s hard to put into words what I am thinking, feeling, and experiencing. This place is truly beautiful, as are the people. But there’s a heaviness here in some ways. But also hopeful beauty. It just goes back and forth. I am thankful to be here a few more days to process it a bit more. I’m thankful for the people who have committed to working in the Rez for the longing haul. And to be on this long haul of a road trip with my best friend and new friends.

It’s been an incredible first day…even though it started with getting our car stuck in the mud… hahaha.
